Pokémon nests in Tokyo updated

The tide of PokémonGo heat in Japan seems to be calmed down, but still many people are playing Tokyo. I still see clouds of salarymen after 19:00 (in general, work hours ends 18:00 – 19:00) in certain parks or near rivers (meguro river). The weather in Japan is still keeping summer, so when you are planning to visit these parks during the day time, you still need to be careful on heatstroke.

In my previous blog post (http://www.dicethekamikaze.com/blog/jp-culture/Pokémon-nests-in-tokyo/) showed the Pokémon nests in Tokyo, but Pokémon company has decided to shuffle the nests randomly according to http://Pokémongohub.net/huge-changes-Pokémon-go-nests-spawns/ .

This changes came into Tokyo in couple weeks ago, and I decided to update the list of Pokémon nests in Tokyo in this blog post. The nest went into more parks and gardens all over Tokyo comparing to the previous nests by the update.

I will try my best to catch up all the Pokémon nests in Tokyo updated, but can’t promise it.

Unfortunately, the closest nest from my house, Setagaya-park (was Dratini’s nest a month ago), is now a nest of Kabuto, but it appears less.

Pokemon nests in Tokyo: where is it?

Pokemon nests in Tokyo

On July 22nd, PokemonGo finally released in the birthplace of Pokemon. Interesting thing is that McDonald, Japan is the first sponsor location. Gym is located in every McDonalds in Japan.

It’s been a few days since its release, but it already spreads and leads huge impact on Japanese economy.

In PokemonGo, there are certain places called “Pokemon nests” where particular rare Pokemon frequently appear. Where to get Pokemon in Tokyo? and where are the nests? In this post, I list all the nests revealed in Tokyo so far.

Setagaya and Komazawa-Olympic park: My adventure

I visited Komazawa-Olumpic park and Setagaya Park this weekend, and there are so many Pokemon trainers catching rare Pokemons; however, often Japanese parks are not big enough to hold PokemonGo users in Tokyo.

Setagaya Park was like this. I got some Scythers in here. I was at Setagaya park on Saturday around 07:00 p.m, it was not too crowded. This park is fairly big. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Komazawa_Olympic_Park  This park is always my favorite place to run and jog.

Pokemon nests Setagaya

Setagaya park:

setagaya

Setagaya pokemon nest

Setagaya park is much smaller and easier to access from stations than Komazawa park. This caused Setagaya park very packed especially, Setagaya park is the nest of Dratini which evolves to Dragonite, which is said to be the strongest Pokemon so far. I was there Sunday around 19:00p.m, there were still so many people around the park. I heard from neighbors around Setagaya park, the peak time of Pokemon trainers were around 16:00p.m to 19:00 p.m. A elder women who walks with her dog everyday around the time claims the pollution of the park and wonder how long this goes on, and hoping it comes down soon.

I am hoping everyone enjoys catching rare Pokemons in Tokyo with respects.

Pride fish (プライドフィッシュ)

pride fish

Pride fish: local fishermen’s proud fish in Japan.

National Federation of Fisheries Co-operative Associations held a 3rd Fish-1 grad prix on March 6, 2016, which is a festival and competition of local seafoods and dishes based on the local fishes (local speciality fishes).

When you imagine Japanese food, there are lots of Japanese dishes related to fish such as Sashimi and Sushi. There are standard fish series in Sashimi and Sushi such as tuna, salmon, sea Bream, and mackerel, and many people think that freshness is the most important in Sashimi.Yes, it is true. However, among Japanese people, where the fish comes from is highly valued.

In Japanese culture, locality is regarded highly valuable on not only foods but also any products. Indeed, Japanese people really care “made in ~”.

A example of special local mattered fish is “tuna”, a standard Sashimi fish, is widely caught in Japan and in the world such as from Indonesia, Spain and Mexico, but there is a special tuna exists. The prices are very different in locality.  The very famous tuna in Japan is Pacific Bluefin tuna (called Hon-maguro “true tuna”) from Oma-city, Aomori prefecture. Their Tuna is usually sold at $50 ~ $100 per kilogram. (Tuna is usually 100-200kg).

If you are planning to travel around in Japan, cuisine is one of the best entertainment of Japanese trip and  the list below would be helpful to enjoy the local fish.

local fishermen’s proud fish

Every prefecture which faces the sea has their local proud speciality fish (pride fish プライドフィッシュ). http://www.pride-fish.jp/ (unfortunately ONLY Japanese)

There are Pride fish from 5 regions in Japan in each season, spring, summer, fall and winter. I will try to do my best to translate all fish names, but some there is no translation.

Types of fish in Japanese is very varied; for eaxmple, “squid”, there are at least 3 best known squid in Japan: “spear squid”, “Japanese common squid”, “southern squid”. On the list above, I don’t describe some fish in detail such as “octopus”.

I am hoping this post helps you when you travel to these prefectures to enjoy their proud local fishes. Enjoy Japanese fishes.
